MATUMBAMAN has 50 kills, 0 deaths in his last 3 DPC games

Team Secret is on a roll right now, but Lasse Aukusti "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen is downright untouchable.

Across the last three games in DreamLeague Season 14, MATUMBAMAN has 50 kills and precisely zero deaths. Those games came from a 2-0 sweep of High Coast Esports and a series-clinching win over Alliance, with Phantom Assassin being his hero choice in all three.

Team Secret vs. Alliance closed with a game that was all about MATUMBAMAN, as he looked like he was playing a Turbo game by buying a quick Battlefury, farming with impunity, and racking up kills. Though the game had 33 kills, MATUMBAMAN had 15 of them.

The match against High Coast Esports was a brutal one for the ex-Ninjas in Pyjamas squad as Secret showed no mercy despite the profound mismatch. MATUMBAMAN’s approach was largely identical as well, with an early Battlefury setting up a strong farming effort that gave High Coast Esports no chance to win. He closed out the game 14-0, with more kills than the entire enemy team.

The series ended the next game, but MATUMBAMAN wasn’t quite as dominant. In a game where Team Secret scored 47 kills in just 30 minutes, everyone on the roster had between eight and 11 kills. MATUMBAMAN was the only one that avoided getting killed though, ending the game at 11-0, to bring his tally across the three games to 50.

MATUMBAMAN, Team Secret look poised to dominate ONE Esports Singapore Major

Team Secret has long dominated European Dota 2, but the team hit a new level entirely in 2020 as it won eight straight tournaments. That’s been the story so far in 2021 as well, with Secret boasting a perfect 6-0 record in DreamLeague Season 14 while almost everyone else is struggling to maintain an even record.

While everyone else in the league faces an uncertain future, Team Secret already has a guaranteed playoff spot in the ONE Esports Singapore Major in its pocket. The good times seem likely to roll on for them, too.

The team stands a good chance of finishing DreamLeague Season 14 with an undefeated record, closing out the season with a match against OG. Team Secret will almost certainly enter the ONE Esports Singapore Major as the favorite, and Secret has historically thrived in those events.

Why did MATUMBAMAN leave Team Liquid?

MATUMBAMAN was famously kicked from his longtime home, Team Liquid, in 2019 and was replaced by Aliwi "w33" Omar. MATUMBAMAN said in 2020 he was removed from Team Liquid because he was struggling both with the team and personally with a lack of motivation. MATUMBAMAN landed with Chaos Esports Club before finding his way to Team Secret at the start of the 2019-2020 Dota Pro Circuit Season.

Things have ultimately worked out for both parties since. Liquid reached the grand finals of The International 2019 with w33 as its dedicated mid laner. From there, MATUMBAMAN has played extremely well with Team Secret.
