Dota 2 fans just raised $28,000 to make a new player tutorial

Dota 2 content creator Jake "SirActionSlacks" Kanner and a team of developers are asking for the community's help in funding a new player experience tutorial for the notoriously tricky game.

SirActionSlacks announced the Dota 2 tutorial on February 20, launching a crowdfunding campaign to support the endeavor. The minimum goal of $10,000 was more than doubled. Over 700 backers ended up raising over $28,000, which would help SirActionSlacks and his team pay modders to work on the tutorial. The second goal is $50,000, which would help pay the entire team and get the tutorial localized for South America and China.

SirActionSlacks leads new Dota 2 tutorial project

Netflix's DOTA: Dragon's Blood television series inspired SirActionSlacks to start the project since many new fans will likely be curious about playing Dota 2 after watching the show. Dota 2 has a tough learning curve for beginners and no way to really encourage new players to continue learning the ropes, so SirActionSlacks decided to set out and create a helpful tutorial to help grow the game's community.

The tutorial demo is currently available for backers who donated $20 or more to the campaign. SirActionSlack's team will be taking in feedback and implementing some suggestions. The campaign is currently discounted because of the incredible amount of money that was raised, so now is an opportune time to donate to the campaign if you're interested in testing the demo before it launches.

When is DOTA: Dragon's Blood coming to Netflix?

The MOBA-inspired Netflix series is coming to Netflix on March 25. Here is everything you need to know about the new show based on Dota 2 and starring one of the game's heroes, Dragon Knight.
